Next General Meeting will be Saturday June 27th  at 1 p.m. at the West Oakland Public Library

The African American Quilt Guild of Oakland was created in June 2000 to preserve and continue the tradition of quilting.  We promote fellowship among interested persons in all aspects of quilting.  Our goal is to contribute to the knowledge and appreciation of fine quilting.  We sponsor and support quilting activities through regular meetings and special events with the community.

We have a multiracial/multicultural membership with members who live in several of the Bay Area counties.

The Guild is proud to have members who have won prizes in the Alameda County Needlework Show.  Member’s quilts have been displayed in various local quilt shows and community centers as well as  American Quilt Society Exposition in Nashville, TN, International Quilt Festival, Houston, TX, Europe, Japan and South Africa.

Our meetings are held on the fourth Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the West Oakland Public Library ,
1801 Adeline Street, Oakland, CA.  The board meets at noon on the same day (members are welcome to attend).

The purpose of AAQGO is to preserve and continue the tradition of quilting; to promote fellowship among interested persons in all aspects of quilting; to contribute to the knowledge and appreciation of fine quilting and quilts; and to sponsor and support quilting activities through regular meetings and special events with the community.

Membership is open to anyone interested in the purpose and objective of this Guild.  No discrimination shall be made with regard to race, color, creed, sex, or national origin.
